Alta Fair: Beauty in the Details

Born in Tennessee and raised in rural Maryland, my earliest memories are of being drawn to the outdoors. With wild, orange hair and a wild imagination, I spent the majority of my childhood with a bug jar in one hand and a box of crayons in the other. I developed an affinity for the tiny visual details that abound in the natural world.
Having graduated with a Fine Arts degree in Sculpture and Photography, my artwork is a culmination of the skills I’ve learned and a life long desire to express the beauty I see in the world.
I currently live and work in Baltimore, Maryland with my husband, John and our two children, Violette and Jasper.
Alta Fair is a collection of jewelry and illustrations with a Bohemian, nature-inspired aesthetic, designed and crafted in my home studio. I create predominantly one of a kind and limited edition jewelry using handmade, found object, and vintage components and utilizing an array of techniques from enameling to beading. My illustrations emphasize color, repetitive pattern, and organic forms reminiscent of visions found in forest, field, and sea. I strive to infuse my work with intricate detail and a bit of whimsy to appeal to all ages and meld with an eclectic range of styles and tastes.
I like to imagine where my work is going and whose lives it will embellish after it leaves my hands. I craft each unique piece with love, and the influences and inspirations of my past. When a person thoughtfully selects something I’ve created to give their loved one or to keep for themselves, I picture it as a small detail that lives with them as they go about their lives. I dream about it being passed on as a precious heirloom containing an even greater history and even more love. History, love…these two things are why handcrafted art makes the greatest gift and are the roots of what drives me to create in the first place.
I welcome requests for custom work with open arms! Please contact me and we will design your special piece.
